Looking for ways to tie Pablo Picasso's work to your curriculum? The Educator Resource Guide for the Picasso exhibition is designed to highlight learning themes inspired by this extraordinary exhibition while building connections between Picasso's work and works of art from SAM's collection. With images from the exhibition and SAM's collection, background information and guiding questions, this guide offers six different hands-on activities that tie Picasso to subjects like math, language arts, visual arts, social studies, science and geography. Find more Picasso related resources through the TRC's Educator Resource List for the exhibition or through a keyword search for "Picasso" in the TRC online catalogue.

It's been a long time coming, but we're excited to say that SAM's exhibition Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris opens October 8, 2010. There has already been great interest in this exhibition by teachers, students and families. In fact, school tours for the exhibition arecurrently sold out. However, there are still many exciting ways to experience the Picasso* exhibition. Plus, we have many school tour opportunities still available at the Olympic Sculpture Park and the Seattle Asian Art Museum this fall. Find out more below.

Mark your calendars for an amazing day of family-friendly activities in celebration of the new exhibition of Picasso's art at SAM downtown. Educators get a special "sneak peek" at 9am!
The first 500 teachers to arrive on October 16 can into the Picasso exhibition for free! "Sneak peek" tickets will be distributed outside of the 1st and University Street entrance (near the Hammering Man sculpture) at 8:30am on a first-come, first-served basis. Teachers are welcome to bring family members to the "sneak peek." All individuals accompanying teachers must purchase a timed ticket to visit Picasso, except children 12 years and younger, who are always free at SAM. Viewing hours for the "sneak peek" tickets are 9 am-10 am. Teachers must present a valid school ID to take advantage of this op-portunity. Digital images of many objects in SAM's collection are available through the museum's online collection. SAM also recently launched a collection of images on ARTstor, an online digital image library. Members of the Wyckoff Teacher Resource Center (TRC) have free access to ARTstor, and can burn images to CDs or print color copies of images from the TRC.
