Happy Holidays from the Asian Art Museum
Dear Asian Art Museum visitors and supporters,
I was a visitor, friend, and supporter of the Asian Art Museum for two decades before I began my term as Chair of the Commission and Foundation Boards. Now, I am honored to head the leadership team to ensure the growth and future of this organization. True, like many arts organizations, the Museum faces many challenges, but we have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season, and more importantly, we have an exciting new year to celebrate.
I am grateful for all the support, advocacy, and interest you have given to the Museum. Because of these gifts we are able to feature the beautiful traveling exhibit, Beyond Golden Clouds: Five Centuries of Japanese Screens (through January 16, 2011). And through the Holiday season we are hosting our traditional specialty programs--from Filipino Christmas festivities at a parole workshop to ensuring an auspicious beginning of the New Year with the 25th annual Japanese Bell Ringing ceremony.
As we move into 2011, I look forward to welcoming you to an awakened and inspired museum, one that embraces the multitude of Asian cultures and bridges their arts and cultures from 6,000 years into the present day. Early in the New Year we will open our special exhibit, Bali: Art, Ritual, Performance (opening February 25), accompanied by a rich array of complementary programs.
With that all these activities and programs in mind and with the end of 2010 rapidly approaching, I hope you realize that there is no better time to make an end of year gift and support the Asian Art Museum's future and take advantage of a charitable deduction. Click here to make your end of year donation.
There are many reasons and many ways to contribute, whether it is giving a membership, making an honorary or memorial contribution, or simply contributing to support a program of particular interest. Support, of any amount, will help us display special exhibitions, maintain our rich collection, and provide educational programs and unparalleled events.
Please consider making a gift before the end of the year. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support.
Happy Holidays and best wishes for a bright new year ahead.
Anthony Sun
Chair of the Asian Art Museum Commission and Asian Art Museum Foundation
