| | Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art is grounded in the belief that the instinct to create is universal and should not be encumbered by socio-economic status or education. Our core value is that the appreciation of self-taught and outsider art should be accessible to all.
Despite the economic hardships we faced this year, we continued to educate and delight visitors and critics alike with gorgeous exhibitions, educational slide lectures and symposia, film screenings, and unique art events.
I know there are many demands on your financial resources at this time of year. But I urge you to make a personal donation to Intuit today. Please consider a tax-deductible contribution of $500, $250, $100, or whatever you can give today. We cannot do this work alone. We need your support to help fund our upcoming exhibitions and educational programs.
Consider just a few notable highlights:
· The Treasure of Ulysses Davis Intuit was extremely fortunate to be the final leg of the tour for this exciting retrospective. Davis (1914 -1990) was a Savannah barber who created a diverse but unified body of highly refined sculpture that reflects his deep faith, humor, and dignity.
· Outsider Art Europe Tour Intuit's first tour of European outsider art sites was led by Randy M. Vick, Associate Professor of Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Heidelberg and Bern served as the base cities for the 12-day trip that featured exclusive behind-the-scenes access to world famous museums, private collections, and artist environments.
· Forget Me NOT: Self-Taught Portraits Closing the year with this beautiful exhibition, Forget Me NOT features 76 portraits from self-taught artists as diverse as Ammi Phillips and Morris Hirschfield-both on loan from the Terra Foundation for American Art, Daniel J Terra Collection- to William Hawkins, Lee Godie, Mose Tolliver, Elijah Peirce and Ike Morgan. There is still time to see it.
We have even more exciting programming planned for 2011, our 20th Anniversary year. | | | | | You make it possible. Your contribution helps us to make payroll, light our galleries, produce fine exhibitions and publications, and maintain the high quality of our educational programs. Intuit continually strives to be world-class in all that we do. It is our generous donors, who, this year helped us expand our Teacher Fellowship Program to 22 teachers in 11 Chicago Public Schools. Your support also adds books, monographs, DVDs, and other materials to our highly-acclaimed Robert A. Roth Study Center. As 2010 draws to a close, we wish you Seasons Greetings and warm wishes for joy, peace and prosperity for the coming New Year! Your tax-deductible contribution will support Intuit, the only nonprofit organization in the United States that is solely dedicated to presenting self-taught and outsider art - with world class exhibitions; resources for scholars and students; an ever-growing Permanent Collection with holdings of more than 1,100 works of art; the Henry Darger Room Collection; and the Robert A. Roth Study Center. Help us grow. All the best,
Cleo Wilson Executive Director |
