A Sense of Peacefulness March issue featured artist David Gray finds inspiration everywhere—even in members of his family, whom he often uses as models for his figurative paintings. He is known for his tonalist portraits and minimalist still-lifes, such as SALT, shown above. "I have always been attracted to limited palettes and tonalism because they convey a certain peacefulness. What I'm trying for is a kind of poignant tone poem, like a haiku," says the Tacoma, WA-based artist of his work. Click here to see more of David Gray's paintings in the March issue of Southwest Art. Great Success at ARTfeast A great time was had by all—and money was raised for local youth art programs—at the 14th annual ARTfeast event in Santa Fe, held the weekend of February 25-27. Things kicked off on Friday afternoon at the Fashion Show & Luncheon. Later that night it was on to the popular Edible Art Tour, during which gallery-goers enjoyed mild weather and tasty treats from local restaurants.
