XX-XY/Gender Representation in Art

The critique of gender and cultural identity is a powerful theme in contemporary art.  XX-XY/Gender Representation in Art draws upon the OMA's Permanent Collection and from local, private and public collections to examine the roles of men and women and how they are portrayed visually throughout time.  In developing this exhibition, the OMA curatorial staff worked in partnership with Bruce B. Janz, Ph.D., and Kristin Congdon, Ph.D., from the University of Central Florida's (UCF's) Department of Philosophy, as well as MC Santana, Ph.D., Director of Women's Studies.

Also on view, in partnership with UCF, are Ke Francis in the New Work Gallery and Expressions in Glass: Therman Statom's Caballo Volador Project, a joint project with Flying Horse Editions.
