Winter/Spring Film Series

(Untitled)
Friday, April 22 | 8 pm
East Building, Museum Auditorium

(Untitled)

Why do some films play in theaters, and others don't? Marketing gurus decide whether a film justifies millions in advertising, and bafflingly, in the case of the vastly underappreciated (Untitled), must have decided no. This laugh-out-loud comedy is perfect for museum audiences, since it assumes you know and love art and music and that you find the occasional self-important genius worthy of both affection and mockery. But is it art?

(Untitled)
(2009) Directed by Jonathan Parker. Adam Goldberg, Marley Shelton, Zac Orth, Lucy Punch. (96 min.)

A brooding new-music composer (his signature instrument is a kicked bucket) is taken under the wing of an ambitious art gallery owner who adores patronizing the difficult work others disdain. Skewering pretentiousness with satirical work by genuine artists and composers, it’s “a comedy worthy of the best Woody Allen” (film critic Roger Ebert).
