Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, The Original Lineup

Saturday, June 4 | 8 pm

Bela FleckThere’s a lot to be excited about as we welcome Béla Fleck and the Flecktones to the Museum. First and foremost is the return of founding member Howard Levy after a nearly 20-year hiatus. Secondly, a new CD—Rocket Science—that features Levy on piano and harmonica has just been released to rave reviews.

All Music Guide says the band “pushes ever further into their own seamless, unclassifiable meld of jazz, progressive bluegrass, rock, classical, funk, and world music traditions on this delightful—and at times mind-blowing—record...Rocket Science fires on all cylinders and comes off as a fresh and exciting reintroduction to a newly energized Flecktones.”

Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue

Saturday, June 11 | 8 pm

Trombone ShortyFast on the heels of Béla Fleck comes another musical wunderkind, this one wielding a trombone rather than a banjo. Troy Andrews, a.k.a. Trombone Shorty, blows into town to raise the Park Theater roof with a virtuosic blend of funk, jazz, R&B, rock, and hip hop like you’ve never heard before.
