Portland Collects: Riches of a City Closing May 22 Featuring more than 200 objects from private collections, Riches of a City celebrates arts patronage in Portland and offers a rare glimpse behind closed doors. The Museum's curators spent nearly a year exploring local collections of photography, prints, drawings, silver, Asian art, European art, and modern and contemporary art, uncovering exceptional objects including works by Picasso, Lautrec, Miro, and Warhol. APEX: Geraldine Ondrizek Closing May 15 Scientific processes are made both visually and aurally articulate in Geraldine Ondrizek's three restrained multi-sensory installation works. | | A Deneuve Dozen | | May 6-15, 2011 This month, the Northwest Film Center presents a selection of 12 films featuring the iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve. In her fifty-year career, Deneuve rose to international stardom through memorable roles in more than 100 films and collaborations with legendary directors such as François Truffaut, Jacques Demy, Luis Buñuel, and many more. Highlights of A Deneuve Dozen include Demy's musical confection The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964), Roman Polanski's horror classic Repulsion (1965), Buñuel's psychosexual surrealist masterpiece Belle de Jour (1967), Truffaut's acclaimed World War II drama The Last Metro (1980), and François Ozon's rollicking murder mystery 8 Women (2002).
