Art-o-mat® arrives in Denver!

art*o*mat news Saturday, August 13, 2011 Art-o-mat® arrives in Denver! On August 19th, VSA Colorado/Access Gallery will be the home for the first Art-o-mat® machine in Colorodo. VSA Colorado/Access Gallery is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that establishes creative and educational opportunities for people with disabilities. Access and exposure to the arts is a major component of their programming. Over time this Art-o-mat® will be open for all artists (Local, Statewide and National). But, for the opening, participating teens have been paired with professional mentors to create their first editions of Art-O-Mat art. Proceeds from sales will help support VSA Colorado/Access Gallery’s ongoing Artworks program. The opening will be held Friday, August 19 from 6-9 pm at 909 Santa Fe in the heart of the Arts District. On July 14th, the Corner House Gallery (Cedar Rapids) became the first Art-o-mat® host in Iowa. The machine was well received ...selling about 100 works at the opening. Iowa artist "Kettle" gave away a "golden" Art-o-mat piece. The lucky patron won a larger work. Iowa artist Ruth Ipsan-Brown also came out to the opening. We now have a second Art-o-mat® in Houston, TX. Our host will be the new Whole Foods Market in the Montrose neighborhood. The machine was designed with items from the bulk bins from our local WFM. Here is a nice spot by channel 39….. Local Art Embraced At The New Whole Foods Market Diverseworks is our long time Houston host. Diverseworks. click here We also have another new host in Texas. The Esquire Tavern in San Antonio….which is the oldest bar on the Riverwalk. Esquire. click here Anyway, all eight of our Texas venues are interested in having local artists in their machines. We often hear that this artist/that artist wants to make Art-o-mat® work. But, there is a good chance that "We've howdyed but we ain't shook"….aka: we haven't been formally introduced.
