"There is no way to peace, peace is the way." A.J Musten
"Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without." Buddha
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." Jimi Hendrix
"An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind." Mohandas Gandhi
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." John F. Kennedy
How do you follow words like these with anything approaching meaningful? So this exhibition will be short on text and let the images do the talking...
Many artists find their peace in nature and landscapes of great beauty ('Tranquility' by Sita Shah, 'Sea of Serenity' by David Taylor , 'Along the Riverbank' by Ronnie Tucker, 'Birch Grove' by Dmitry Moiseev and 'Peace' by Irum Iftikhar) while others find it in dance (Richard Young's 'Dancer at Peace', Ai Qiu Hopen's bronze sculpture 'Red Violin').
Some find their peace in prayer and meditation (John Dumigan's 'Buddha', Libby Jones's delightful 'Buddha Blesses Ham Common', Ponder' by Alan Mynall and Ai Qiu Hopen's wonderful bronze sculpture 'Peace Prayer') while others find it in a comfy chair and a set of good headphones. Our favourite painting this week is Ellie Good's 'Weekend', where a moment of perfect contentment can be bought for ?900. So heaven can be found on earth! | |
