new exhibition - Santa's choice

Santa's Choice
Merry Xmas to everyone

Santa has picked some of his favorites from Londonart , we hope you love them as well. Heres a brief intro to just a few artists from this exhibition.

Pete Kelly finds a particularly strong aesthetic and power in the beauty of the urban landscape. "I try to see beauty around me, drawing beauty from ugliness by capturing close up textures of fading paint or graffiti, or by reducing the shape of the subject to silhouette."

Charlotte Latham's work is typified by her use of delicate texture and colour applied to a backdrop of pure white exposed canvas. This style has become a distinctive trademark of Charlotte's work. Using ink, wax and various metals to create highly textural paintings her work has been exhibited throughout the UK and in America.

Amy Bernays lives and works in Los Angeles but graduated from Central St Martins in 2001. Her recent oil and acrylic LA landscapes where the city is viewed from inside manmade structures (see Leaving Van Nuys and Los Angeles River) demonstrate her considerable skill as a colourist.

Sophy Bristol is a recently-graduated oil painter who, like Lowry, excels at showing the figure in the urban landscape. Works like Covent Garden, Skating Somerset House and Jump suggest that she has a promising career ahead of her.

Alexander Adams' monochrome paintings of dystopian urban landscapes have been shown around Europe. He was trained at Goldsmiths College in the early 1990s and now lives and works in Berlin. His work is held in several private collections including Paul O'Grady and at the Moscow City Art Gallery and UK School of Art Museum. His 'Untitled' series of men's suits recently sold out on London Art.
