A lot has changed since our humble beginnings in 1991, but our passion for the promotion of outsider and intuitive art has never wavered. This amazing exhibition of our growing permanent collection has been curated by Roger Manley, curator, author and director of the Gregg Museum of Art & Design at North Carolina State University. Please join us as we take our first steps into the next decade.
Curator's Talk                                      Jan. 22, 11am
Art by Lonnie Holley

Roger Manley, Intuit's guest curator, will lecture on the association between the exhibition Architecture of Hope - the Treasures of Intuit and selected works. Come learn more about how self-taught artists can create in various circumstances and how "hope" serves as a metaphor for these artists, as well as Intuit.

This event is free and open to the public.

Marwencol - Special Discount!                 Jan. 17-19
MARWENCOLAn award-winner and audience favorite at numerous film festivals, MARWENCOL has been one of the most buzzed-about documentaries of the year. After a brutal attack that removed most of his memory and motor skills, former illustrator Mark Hogancamp reconstructed his shattered self by building an elaborate backyard fantasy world called Marwencol.  Populated by G.I. Joe and Barbie dolls in a highly reimagined World War II setting, Marwencol is filled with scenarios of violence, victimization, vengeance, and sexual longing that fascinatingly mirror Hogancamp's own interrupted life. Click here for showtimes and more information.

Monday, January 17 through Wednesday, January 19,
$7 at any screening with code "INTUIT." Valid in-person only at the Gene Siskel Film Center Box Office.

There's Still Time to Give
Here's great news for donors to Intuit. The IRS has a granted a two-year retroactive extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. The extension is effective for 2010 and 2011, and a special provision allows you to make charitable gift distributions that will be treated as made in 2010 if completed by January 31, 2011.

Specifically, the new law states that, in each of the years 2010 and 2011, an individual who is at least 70½ years old and an owner of a traditional or Roth IRA may instruct their IRA trustee to distribute directly to a public charity like Intuit up to $100,000 as a current outright gift. Don't wait, talk to your accountant and make a year-end gift to Intuit!
