| | Explore the art of the Italian Renaissance—and the sumptuous settings where it was created—through more than 50 artworks, including paintings, textiles, and decorative arts. Cities of Splendor: A Journey Through Renaissance Italy takes you to Italy during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Travel through Florence, Siena, Mantua, Venice, Milan, and across the Italian Alps, and discover the contribution of each region—such as the Florentine love for rational perspective and drawing, the Mantuan passion for classical antiquity, and the Venetian taste for color and tonalities. The festive evening is for anyone who enjoys and appreciates wine complete with helpful tasting guides, live entertainment, and delicious hors d'oeuvres. | | If you haven't come to visit lately, we've got lots going on. Sleight of Hand opens April 9 in the Neusteter Textile Gallery on level six of the North Building. Using time-honored textile techniques—embroidery, quilting, weaving, netting, crochet, coiling, and ikat—the artists invent new methods to achieve their creative vision that surprise the eye and challenge our powers of perception.
