Guide to the Exhibition

30 Americans

March 19–September 4, 2011
Meymandi Exhibition Gallery

View of the exhibition

It’s almost here—30 Americans opens tomorrow! The exhibition presents 75 works of art by the leading contemporary African American artists of the last three decades. Drawn from the Rubell Family Collection, an internationally known collection of contemporary art, this sweeping display across a variety of media explores how an earlier generation of African American artists influenced those working today.

The works on art on view are provocative and dramatic, and many have never been shown in this region. The exhibition is a rare opportunity to experience in depth the work of many of today's best contemporary artists.
