Floral interpretations of famous works of art

This unique exhibition of floral arrangements is created by more than 100 floral designers who take inspiration from the Museum’s renowned collection.  The Museum is transformed into a glorious spectacle of art and flowers, creating an enchanting spring exhibition punctuated by a host of special events. René van Rems, world-renowned floral designer, is returning as this year's Rotunda Designer after wide acclaim for his 2010 floral extravaganza.


Opening Celebration
Thursday, April 28,  7:00-11:00 p.m.
Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Museum adorned with flowers and art, indulge in refreshing cocktails and cuisine, and celebrate the many facets of Art Alive’s brilliant past. This elegant, vibrant Opening Celebration will include:
  • Cuisine and specialty cocktails from 25 of San Diego’s finest restaurants
  • Music and dancing in the big tent
  • One of a kind silent auction items

Masterpiece Ticket
Last year, the Masterpiece Ticket winner took home the pink scooter. What would you choose?
For only $100, enter a raffle where the winner takes home their choice of any silent auction item- before the bidding even begins! Only 300 Masterpiece Tickets will be sold. Multiple tickets may be purchased to increase your odds of winning. Winner will be selected before the commencement of Art Alive. Need not be present to win.

  • Hop across the pond to enjoy one week in a private flat in London

Bouquet Bash: Lecture and Demonstration

$30 Members/$40 nonmembers
Produced by René van Rems, enjoy a highly energetic program featuring top floral designers as they create a variety of wedding-themed bouquets and other decor. The latest fashions for gowns and guests will be on display. Emceed by Michelle Martin of M Bride with René van Rems, Carlos Franco, and Cathy Wright designing.

A posh party for San Diego's late night bloomers!

Friday, April 29 7:00-10:00 p.m.
$50 members/ $60 nonmembers/ Free for The Gallery
The Museum and guests glow at this enhanced evening experience. Guests will enjoy captivating cocktails, tantalizing treats, art-making activities, and dazzling floral art.

Garden of Activities
Saturday & Sunday, April 30 & May 1
12:00-4:00 p.m.

Free after Museum admission
Experience a garden of projects for children and families to enjoy together.  Create flower arrangements from art materials, read nature-inspired stories, build a paper garden on the walls, and participate in a Museum-wide, flower-related search and find activity.
