Good Morning Art Enthusiast!

Celebrate nine days of the arts in sunny Summerville, South Carolina, the gateway to Charleston. Join us for our 13th Annual Sculpture in the South Show & Sale, May 14-16, 2011, one of the state's premiere outdoor art events.  Staged under a canopy of tradition, the show & sale draws over 35 world-class sculptors who present their artworks in an upscale, relaxed atmosphere in beautiful Azalea Park nestled in the historic town of Summerville.

Over the years Sculpture in the South Show & Sale has gained national recognition and has attracted both sculptors and collectors from across the country.  Those who attend have the opportunity to meet and get acquainted with sculptors who are at the top of their field and who share candid stories that inspire their work.  Many of the sculptors will be creating pieces of sculpture in clay throughout the weekend.  Artworks ranging from tabletop to monumental sizes in several different mediums and subjects will be displayed throughout the weekend for sale.

Other activities during the show & sale include: Southwest Art “Outstanding YOU” Sculptor Award, People’s Choice Award; mini lecture series; sculpture exhibit created by students in Dorchester District II Schools; “Arts Encounter” which offers child age appropriate activities; silent auction; gift boutique; “mini” tours of the Summerville Permanent Public Sculpture Collection; and Mike’s barbecue - prepared by an award-winning SC grilling team.

Sculpture in the South has expanded the show & sale to include 2nd Annual Arts Education Week, May 7-13, 2011.  This week brings together all the arts under one umbrella. International to regionally known artists will teach a diverse array of workshops for all ages – from beginner to master level classes.  Cost varies; some are free!  There are a few lectures in store too!  It is our hope that this celebration of the arts offers enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the creative process and spark a deeper passion and support of the arts.  The week rolls right into our annual show & sale.

We hope you can join us for this year’s celebration!  If you will be traveling to Summerville, please check out www.visitsummerville.com for lodging and www.southwest.com for great flight arrangements!
