Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue

Lousiana Dance Party Part I
Saturday, June 11 | 8 pm

Trombone ShortyTroy Andrews, a.k.a. Trombone Shorty, is the most exciting young talent to emerge from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina and symbolizes the return of the irrepressible cultural vitality of New Orleans.

Andrews is a musical prodigy, a gifted performer and bandleader, with a virtuosic command of the trombone, trumpet, and other instruments. He grew up in the legendary Treme neighborhood and attended the prestigious New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts. NOCCA alum Wynton Marsalis has said, “Troy possesses the rarest combination of talent, technical capability, and down-home soul. I’m his biggest fan.”

Now at age 25, Andrews leads a band of talented and dynamic performers known as Orleans Avenue who deliver a high-octane cocktail of jazz, funk, rock, R&B, and hip-hop—SupaFunkRock as they call it—that leaves audiences ecstatic. Their Grammy-nominated CD Backatown sat atop the Billboard jazz charts for 10 weeks.
