NEW YORK, NY (REUTERS).- Former art gallery director Leigh Morse escaped a lengthy prison term at her sentencing in a Manhattan criminal court on Tuesday but will owe $1.65 million in restitution for defrauding her clients. Morse will serve an intermittent sentence, spending weekends in confinement for four months, and be on probation for five years. The punishment capped a trial that saw actor Robert DeNiro testify against her. Morse, 55, was found guilty in April of selling more than 80 works of art from four estates for approximately $5 million without informing the owners. But she was cleared of a larceny charge that stemmed from allegations that she had sold several paintings by DeNiro's father, the late Robert DeNiro Sr., without paying the actor. LOS ANGELES (REUTERS).- A new George Harrison documentary featuring home movies, interviews and never before seen material will make its debut in October on HBO, the cable channel said. Produced by Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese and Harrison's widow Olivia, "George Harrison: Living in the Material World", traces the life of the late Beatle from his musical beginnings in Liverpool to his fame with the Fab Four in the 1960s as well as his work as a philanthropist and filmmaker. Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001 in Los Angeles at the age of 58. Paul Getty Museum announced today that one of the most prominent holdings of the Bibliothèque Nationale de Frances Cabinet des Médailles in Paris, the Berthouville Treasure, has begun a three-year-long process of conservation and technical research at the Getty Villa. This rare cache of approximately 95 ancient Roman silver objects was discovered in March 1830 by a farmer plowing his field near the village of Berthouville in Normandy. An extraordinary group of luxury vesselsincluding bowls and pitchers, many with figural decoration, as well as two silver statuettes of the Roman god Mercurythe objects are associated with a nearby sanctuary of the god Mercury and date to the first through third centuries A.D.
