Looking at Art

For the August issue, the editors of Southwest Art asked three artists to talk about the artistic elements in their work and "deconstruct" a painting of their choice. Richard McKinley, who lives in Oregon, describes four key elements within the above pastel painting titled RIVER DANCE—setting, composition, technique, and texture.
