Looking for a new challenge? Need to add a new skill to your practice? Planning to apply to Art Center College of Design's full-time degree program? Then stop dreaming and make it happen. Art Center at Night (ACN), Art Center's continuing studies program, offers hundreds of courses in design and the visual arts taught by practicing artists and designers who understand how to achieve a competitive edge. Just ask designer and Art Center alumnus Sami Hayek, whose new Espacio Sami Hayek line debuted last May at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York. "I was studying business administration and one day, I realized that I was going to have a boring life ahead of me," Hayek says of his early '90s career path, before discovering environmental design as his true calling. Hayek credits ACN for helping him assemble a portfolio that lead to his admission into Art Center's Environmental Design program. A good thing, too—he had told his father, who wanted him to return to his home in Mexico, that he had already been accepted into the program. "Environmental Design sounded like something involving ecology," Hayek says. "So in his mind, I was going to college to save the environment." Read Hayek's story. Ready to discover your calling? Come to ACN's annual Open House August 17, 7–9 p.m., and explore the possibilities. Please forward this email to anyone you think may be interested in ACN. |
