Theoretical physicist and expert on the fundamental laws of cities, Dr. Geoffrey West, will present his lecture The Science of Cities and Their Critical Role in Global Sustainability: Growth, Mortality, Innovation, and the Accelerating Pace of Life this Thursday evening. West says he has found the simple equations that define the variables of municipalities and posits that, as our vibrant centers of innovation, cities are our best hope for solving current and future problems. Fresh off of his presentation at the 2011 TED Global Conference, West will join our continuing conversation about building better cities as part of Summer Salon Series.

Read his bio from the Santa Fe Institute, and the New York Times article A Physicist Solves the City.
