An ideal combination of function and beauty, folding screens represent some of the highest accomplishments of Japanese painting. View superb large scale examples in various media
dating from the late sixteenth century to the late twentieth century. Together, they demonstrate the longevity of this art form as well as its currency among modern-day artists.
In celebration of Beyond Golden Clouds on its opening day, October 15, please join us in the morning for docent talks, then at 1:30 pm for a FREE tea presentation; the Future Grand Master of the Yabunouchi tradition will present a formal tea offering. Other exhibition program highlights include an open workshop with artist Okura Jiro, a concert with Kitaro, our annual mochi pounding, bell ringing ceremony, MATCHA with Japanese ghost stories and live jazz, educator programs, and more.
