Meet young artists and learn what it is like to participate in this unique exhibition during tours led by students whose artwork is featured in the exhibition, Young Art 2011: Making Multiples. This exhibition of student artwork explores the repetition of images and ideas created by some of San Diego's most talented young artists. The exhibition also features selected prints from the Museum collection, some being shown for the first time, and rare books from the Museum's Library’s Collection.

Museum Lecture Series: Amy Galpin

Friday, May 20, 2011 10:00 a.m. | James S. Copley Auditorium
$12 members | $15 nonmembers | $8 students

Examine the tremendous impact of Whitman's Leaves of Grass on American culture with Amy Gaplin, Project Curator for American Art, as she makes the case that Whitman's writings provide a lens through which we can understand or "read" American art.  This lecture is in anticipation of a dynamic exhibition of American art drawn from the collections of The San Diego Museum of Art, the Timken Museum of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The exhibition, entitled Behold America! Art of the United States from Three San Diego Museums will open in the fall of 2012.

Lecture sponsored by the Museum Docent Council.
