Limited Engagement - One Week Only!

The popular stage and television star discusses her new theater piece, Mouth Wide Open, and her hit ABC series Private Practice with TheaterMania - Read More

Soulful, transcendent, laugh-out-loud funny, Amy Brenneman (Private Practice, Judging Amy, Heat) returns to her theatrical roots in this exuberant piece drawn from her own life experience that juxtaposes a hunger for the spiritual with the externalized pressures of celebrity.

From a Tibetan temple in Kathmandu to an evangelical church in the Mississippi Delta, from the hype of the red carpet to the cold reality of a hospital room, Brenneman is our guide on an epic journey that takes us to the place where illness and spirituality collide.

This fearless look at the ecstatic, irreverent, and sometimes excruciating dance between the sacred and the profane harnesses the intimacy of a confessional and the heightened theatricality of the stage as Brenneman tells her story with dazzling candor.

I SPEAK THEREFORE I AM

Directed by John Tiffany

Written by Brendan Shea and the Class of 2011

At the Loeb Ex

Director John Tiffany (Olivier Award-winning director of the internationally acclaimed Black Watch) collaborates with the A.R.T. Institute Class of 2011 on this original exploration of humanity's most powerful (and baffling) tool- the human voice. Using everything from fairy tales to family history, documentary, fictional narrative and physical theater, I Speak Therefore I Am offers a funny, inventive, and deeply personal look at how our voice tells the world who we are, how and why we speak.
