| | Image via Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop | Naheed Raza: Micro Residency Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop April - May 2011
Naheed Raza's background is in both Art and Science, having studied Medicine at Oxford University and Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and the Slade. Much of her work explores the limits of knowledge and ideas relating to haptic and tacit awareness. For her micro-residency at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop Naheed will begin working on a new research project Bread, Bonsai and Bronze. The purpose of this project is to foreground the notion of modulation, malleability and plasticity and hint at the way in which sculptural 'gestures' might permeate culture, mediating many aspects of our physical experience. www.edinburghsculpture.org

Narcissus Reflected
The Fruitmarket Gallery Friday 22 April - Sunday 26 June Curated by David Lomas and Dawn Ades Cecil Beaton | Bill Brandt | Claude Cahun | Salvador Dali | Charles Henri Ford | Florence Henri Jess | Yayoi Kusama | Willard Maas | Pierre Molinier | Paul Nash | George Platt Lynes | Pipilotti Rist
The myth of Narcissus, as told by Ovid, of a beautiful youth infatuated by his reflection in a stream, who pines away and is metamorphosed into a flower, is open to many interpretations and has captivated a, perhaps surprising, number of modern and contemporary artists. This group exhibition examines the potency of the Narcissus myth in art, photography, installation, film and video.

| Claude Cahun | Sue Tompkins Inverleith House
Until Sunday 17 April Inverleith House is delighted to present two exhibitions; one featuring new work by Sue Tompkins and a retrospective on Claude Cahun (1884- 1954). Sue Tompkins is a sound and visual artist whose work for Inverleith House takes the form of live performance, typewritten text pieces and fabric works. Each element of her work is linked by the repetitive, performative actions that are utilised in their production. On the first floor is the first UK museum survey of photographs by Claude Cahun (1894-1954). A writer, photographer, actress and political activist, Claude Cahun's remarkable legacy is a photographic archive which provides a compelling and vivid document of a most unusual life, one that despite its distance from that of a modern day viewer seems to uncannily and unflinchingly echo today's concerns.
