September is your last chance to see the summer's two major exhibitions. The Allure of the Automobile, closing September 11, features 16 of the world's most luxurious, rare, and brilliantly conceived automobiles and explores developments in automotive design from the 1930s to the 1960s.
The second Contemporary Northwest Art Awards exhibition, on view through September 11, showcases the work of seven exceptional Northwest artists, ranging from delicate, figurative porcelain vignettes to heroic-scale sculpture, and from film and video installations to glass and mixed-media painting.

This Fall, the Museum will celebrate its world class collection of Japanese prints with a major exhibition of some 250 works dating from the late 17th century to the present day. Nearly half of the prints are unique or extremely rare and will be on view for the first time.

| | Northwest Film Center Screenings | | | This fall, the Northwest Film Center and various community partners join forces to present several film events at locations throughout the city. Kicking things off on Thursday, September 1, the Film Center teams up with the Hotel Modera for a special screening of the classic Italian heist film Big Deal on Madonna Street, with proceeds benefiting the 2012 Portland International Film Festival. Then, on Wednesday, September 7 at the Mission Theater, the Film Center along with Musicfest NW and Search Party present a special Pre-Reel Music Festival screening of Wheedle's Groove, chronicling Seattle's forgotten 1960s soul scene. Finally, September 14–17, the Film Center partners with Portland Institute for Contemporary Art during its annual Time-Based Art Festival for a screening of James Benning's experimental industrial film Ruhr.
