The Orlando Museum of Art is offering a "behind the scenes" trip to Spain - Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao and Toledo. Grandparent's Day*

September 11 / 2:00pm. Bring your grandparent or your favorite grand-friend and create some fabulous and functional art! In this class you will learn how to transform an ordinary tote bag or plain casing for a throw pillow into a work of art.        

 

Art Encounters
September 18 / 1:30pm. This drop-in program provides an opportunity for visitors of all ages to create a "make and take" work of art. Participants will be inspired by the OMA's art treasures on view and then create their own work. A different project will be offered each month. Cost: $3 non-members, $2 members. Gallery admission is not necessary to participate.  
   

 

Art Adventures*

September 23 / 9:30am. Portraits - A look at who we are and those around us: Visit the OMA galleries and view portraits of people in the past. Have fun creating your own portrait through drawing, painting and collage.

September 7 / 1:30. Examine the OMA's collections with associate curator of adult programs, Jan Clanton. Tours are free with gallery admission.

 

Art's the Spark @ OMA 

September 17 / 10:30-noon. For those with memory impairment and their caregivers. This fun experience includes interactive guided tours and studio activities that offer an expressive outlet and a forum for adult dialogue. This free program was funded in part by a grant from the Funds of the Community Foundation of Central Florida, Inc., one of more than 300 charitable funds established since 1994.  Additional support has been provided by the Winter Park Health Foundation. To register for this program, call 407 896 4231 x262.

Video Series: Contemporary Art
Sep 28 / Noon-1pm. Video series introduces viewers to contemporary artists as they offer their thoughts on art today. Bring your own bag lunch; we will supply the coffee and cookies! Cost: $3; $2 for OMA members.  

 

Arts Society: Tricks of the Trade 2011/2012

This monthly art appreciation program, held from 10:30am to 12:30pm six times per year, September through April, begins with a light brunch, followed by a lecture led by Jan Clanton, associate curator of adult programs, and concludes with an exclusive tour of the galleries. Register now with a friend to secure your spots, call 407 896 4231 x262. Cost $180 for the series; $125 for OMA members.   

 

Docent Training Program at the OMA

Docents are a special and valued group of museum volunteers who help visitors learn about and enjoy great art. Attend training sessions on Wednesday afternoons from mid-September to mid-December, eleven weeks in all. Informational session on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 1pm. This meeting, held at the OMA, will provide basic information about becoming a docent and give you an opportunity to have questions answered before committing to the program.
